Welcome to Florida on Foot!

Hi there, I am Jen a West Virginia native who relocated to Tampa, Florida in 2016! I’ve always enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a love for travel. A few items that are now on my travel bucket list include visiting all 50 states, all the Florida State Parks, and all the National Parks in the United States.

When I first moved to Florida if I had free time to spend outside I frequented the nearby beaches. While I love a relaxing day at the beach, I found myself missing hiking and being immersed in nature on a trail.

As we all know, 2020 was the year of canceled vacations and staying at home, so I decided to make the most of where I lived. I finally realized even if we don’t have mountains, with 175 state parks, trails, and historic sites there was so many incredible places I was missing out on. I decided to start exploring more of Florida.

First, I visited some of the Florida State Parks near Tampa and I quickly realized how much they had to offer. That is when the idea of Florida on Foot was born. I officially launched my blog in November 2021 to share my love of the outdoors and inspire others.

Florida is such a diverse state with so much to offer! My blog will primarily focus on sharing ideas for outdoor adventures in the state of Florida. I include a lot of park recaps for local, state, and national parks. In addition to my Florida content, I have a beyond Florida section on my website to share my travels outside the state. My resource section provides useful tips for exploring the outdoors.
